Generally not, unless you signed something specifically agreeing to pay. There are certain other exceptions but they generally do not arise.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Email communication does not constitute, and an email inquiry does not create, any attorney-client relationship. As you would expect, in the event that you wish to seek our services, we would need to do a review of our records to determine whether representing you would create a conflict with an existing client, and otherwise determine whether your matter is one we wish to undertake. We also would need to agree on compensation.

Accordingly, since no communication by e-mail shall be considered to create an attorney-client relationship, you should not send any confidential information to us unless and until an attorney-client relationship is established. Information sent before an attorney-client relationship is established may be determined not to be confidential. Also, we are unable to guarantee the security of email communications generally, though we are not aware of any security breaches to date.

Finally, the Rhode Island Supreme Court licenses all lawyers in the general practice of law. The Court does not license or certify any lawyer as an expert or specialist in any field of practice.
