Legal Question in Family Law in Rhode Island

Children

My soon to be ex husband has had a girlfriend for about 9 months. My son who is 4 is always with them on his day to have his visitation. Do I have a right to know who this girl is. As far as last name and where she lives if our son is hanging at her house?

Re: Children

A "right" is something that you are entitled to as a matter of law. Absent an existing court order, you do not yet have the "right" to know who this woman is.

That is the technical answer to your question.

However, practically speaking, if you were to file a motion with the family court asking for the disclosure of this woman's name and information to identify her and check her background, it would most likely be granted because it relates to the safety of your son. The court is likely to require disclosure of this woman's address if your son is spending time at her house.
