Legal Question in Family Law in Rhode Island

Emancipation

Hello, for about a year, in my spare time I've been looking for information regarding emancipation in my state.Well, before I go any further I'd like to say first that I'm 14 turning 15 in December, I've been suffering from depression for quite a whiledue to a recent traumatic experience when I was younger but I'm going to my doctor soon. My mother is only making things worse by abusing me emotionally and it would kill me to have to call the police because she treats her other kids really good so I dont want them taken away from her, I'd feel so guilty because they really truly love her and vise versa,I've been told by many adults that I'm extremly mature and intelligent so I know a little bit about independence and living on my own, where just completely different people, and I've been looking for a job,and waiting until I become employed to take any further action regarding this procedure.I've been having a difficult time finding emancipation laws in Rhode Island, and I want to know the steps that I will have to take in order to become emancipated. I really do not have any other opyions because I've tried the whole therapy thing with my mother but that did'nt go to well. Thankyou so much for taking the time to read this!

Re: Emancipation

You have given considerable detail here but there is considerably more to it than you might imagine and your age would be a considerable factor for the court to consider.

This is not a matter that is capable of being addressed properly in the amount of space allotted for answers.

I highly recommend that you get a full consultation from a family law attorney regarding this matter.

I'm certain this is not what you want to hear in response to your post, but there is much more to emancipation than a simple "this is how it's done" answer.

My best of luck to you in this situation.
