Legal Question in Family Law in Rhode Island

Filr relief in state I now live in

I was divorced in RI and now live in Florida. I have lost my job. Can I file a motion here in Fl to suspend child support payments? I cannot afford to fly to RI. Is it true that RI and FL work hand in hand so to speak?

Hello:

In response to your question, there is no case in Fla. so you can't file here. You can mail a Motion to the Clerk's Office up there for filing (sending the other party a copy of what you file). You should contact an atty. up there or call the Clerk of Court in that county and see if someone would be nice enough to give you some advice. Good luck. Tom rosenblum
