Legal Question in Family Law in Rhode Island

Money in Estate

My father passed away in March 2004. He had money in investments and a life insurance policy. No beneficiaries were named for either account. My brother went through the court to become the legal representative for the estate and now has the money. What is the status concerning my and my sisters claim to the money?

Re: Money in Estate

As an potential heir, you should have received documents while the estate was in administration. Your brother, as the PR, had the responsibility to make sure you got certain documents and got your share of the estate. If he is not cooperating with you, look up the court file and see how the estate was disposed of. You may have a case against your brother if he did not distribute money/assets that belong to you.
