Legal Question in Family Law in Rhode Island

Im currently seperated from my husband, we are going to get a divorce but just financially strapped. I was curious if I could actually go to court and have my name Legally changed back to my maiden name BEFORE we even were divorced. I know you can have your name legally changed, but I wasnt sure if this was something I could do because of the marriage and if this changed my options...

You can file a name change petition with the probate court.
