Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Rhode Island
Dentist late fees
My wife was just charged $55 for being late for a dentist appointment. She called from the car 5 minutes after her appointmentn had started and would have ended up being late by 15 minutes but the dentist told her not to come in at the point (it was the last appointment of the day). It is a clear policy of the Dentist office. My question is, is this legal and does she have to pay this if they told her not to come in? Also, hasn't everyone waited (at least) 15 minutes at the dentist? I've never received $55 for waiting? Is my time less valuable? A rule like this hardly seems fair.

Re: Dentist late fees
Fairness has nothing to do with it. Best option is to change dentists. I don't find anything "illegal" in policy, although I do feel that more time should have been given. You may want to report to the Board of Dentistry.

try to talk to the office, if not successful, send them your bill, and find another dentist,
