Victim of hit and run auto accident
I was in an auto accident in RI, it was a hit & run accident, the guy was caught & charge with traffic violations and leaving the scene of an accident. My vehicle was totaled. It was an 89 VW fox in excellent condition with 46,000 miles. Cars this old are incredible undervalued if they are in good condition & the insurance company has offered a minimal settlement which doesn't cover my loss or allow me to replace the vehicle with a comparable one. I was minorly injured, I did't carry collision & I'm dealing with the other party's insurance. I am from PA, where my car was registered, I go to college in RI. More than anything I have been incredible inconvenienced (missing classes/work due to injuries, lack of transportation and trying to deal with the insurance company)and treated horribly by the insurance company (not returning calls). I am return to PA and will be in a worse situation once there due to the accident. What are my rights & what do I have the right to be compensated for & who is responsible? Please help!!

From the facts you have stated, liability does not appear to be the issue - the sole issue is damages not only for the value of your vehcile, but you should also be compensated for your injuries (even if minor).
The lost work and school days, as well as the significant inconvenience in resolving this matter may also be compensable to some degree.
