Legal Question in Employment Law in Rhode Island

My boss smokes in the work place and not only around the workers the customers as well the . There is security cameras up and he smokes in front of them as well . The cameras are hooked up to a hard drive . Now can I quit my job and collect unempolyment ? I have ask him to stop repeatedly and he answers with " whos name is on the building " . I can not put up with this and other abuse anymore please help me . I took today off because of the smoking , it was a 3 hour work day . Today I received a text via my boss and it read . Dave take the week off and call me friday to discuss your job . I mean who does that ? I tried to call him and he will not answer . Thanks for your time

Did you leave because of the smoking? How close do you work to where he smokes?

Lot more facts needed, but it is unlawful to smoke inside public places in RI, and for good reason. Suggest you discuss facts further with a local lawyer.
