Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Rhode Island
Unsanitary bath water came through the ceiling onto my mattress, bed boards and carpet whilst the upstairs neighbors was showering;( i was at work while this happened and came home to find it was "raining" in my bedroom)..... I am asking the landlord to pay for cleaning of mattress and carpet or replace mattress and clean the carpet.. He stated in text that "he does not believe it's his responsibility to pay for the damage caused to my mattress, bed board, an article of clothing, or the cleaning of the carpet"... Am i required to pay and replace these things or is he?

Put a claim in with his insurance, if he refuses then small claims court may be the forum to adjudicate your claim.
