You would have to ask the lender for its consent to do so. Basically, you would be asking the lender to release 1 of 2 people responsible for repayment of the debt. Most local lawyers would be willing to help you write a letter to the lender, though I would not get your hopes up too much, as there would appear to be no benefit to the lender.
