Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Rhode Island

My husband has passed away, and my mortgage is in his name only. Do I have to purchase or re-fi to get the mortgage in my name? Can i do some type of transfer?

Communicate with the mortgage holder and request a modification of the loan, but only after you are certain that the property will pass to you.

This is a complicated matter that would be made much easier with an attorney skilled in such real estate procedures.
