Legal Question in Family Law in Singapore

If I go back home to Singapore alone & wants a divorce from my husband in New Yo

Life have been good so far in New York but sometimes we cant afford stuff due to low funds etc. I might be goin home to Singapore because of that.

If things doesn't go well between me (while I am in Singapore) & him (in New York), will I be able to file a divorce? If yes, how do i go abt it cause its between New York and Singapore?

If no, please advise me why?

Thanks

If you and your husband have lived in New York for at least one year, and if your husband stays in New York, you will be able to file for divorce in New York even after you have returned to Singapore. The New York court will have jurisdiction not only to award a divorce but also to resolve any economic issues. If you wish to bring the divorce case instead in Singapore, you will probably be able to do this after you have been there for a certain period of time but the Singapore court may not have jurisdiction over the economic issues.
