Legal Question in Business Law in South Carolina

I am looking to start a business that will acquire other business with the purpose of creating new jobs. I am curious if Articles of organization are required in each state a business entity is owned or if there is a universal form to cover this; or will my current resident state suffice for all? Each business acquired will operate as a separate enitity but be under the parent company.

Thanks for the question. Each state has a different document, filing fees, and procedures to create a specific business entity. There are also a number of different tax and legal consequences depending on the type of entity and the type of tax treatment elected. Moreover, your company, its owners, the type of business, and other factors may lead an experienced business attorney, working with a CPA with a focus on tax issues, to provide different recommendations. There are also many different steps need to legally create, organize, and open any business, not simply filing something with one state agency. You will want to work with a good team of legal and tax advisors to avoid some of the largest mistakes new business owners make when opening a business. I handle SC business law matters and glad to talk.
