Legal Question in Business Law in South Carolina
I work at a retail sports store, and my boss recently instated a policy that, if a employee does not sell 1 can of shoe cleaner per week, then the employee must buy a can of shoe cleaner. He has threatened to give write-ups, and just today he sent around a text that said we will be replaced if we do not follow his procedure. Is it legal to force me to buy a product if I never signed anything that agreed to it? And if I refuse to buy the shoe cleaner and he does fire me, what are my options? Thanks!
Cody.

Any attorney will say before you get yourself into this position, talk to your state's employment department to let them know about this new "policy." They will be able to advise you on what to do. You can also consult with an attorney in your area for specifics.
