Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in South Carolina

Summons for Default Judgement

To whomever may help me:

I received a summons for default judgement for a credit card I had for Dell. I had some hard times and just stopped paying the debt. Well me and my wife just recieved a settlement on medical malpractice lawsuit and bought us a house outright. Oh yeah my wifes name wasn't on the card if that helps. My question is can they take my house since she wasn't a joint card holder and or can they freeze our checking account?

Thanks for any advice

Re: Summons for Default Judgement

Yes, it is possible that a judgment creditor can force a sale of paid for real estate and could possibly try to attach or seize other property as well. You may have a right to certain exemptions, but you have to know your rights. I would be happy to assist you if you will contact my firm. You have to act fast to keep your rights.
