Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

i was charged with abhan, but only because the victims were women. My aunt and her daughter jumped me and started slamming my head into a door and i tried to get them off of me. I couldn't and the only thing i could do was grab a mallet that was lying nearby and i swung it. i had bruses, cuts and a chunk of flesh ripped from my arm. my cousin just had a headache. they pressed charges and i don't know what i should do. I'm in PTI, but can i press charges back? this happend in Sept. of '07.
