Be very careful using that term. I don't know anything about why your asking. But its highly advisable to clarify exactly what a person means when using the term "straight sentence."

The reason is, that term is used differently. I've seen lawyers use that term when meaning that a person will plead "straight up." Meaning that they are pleading to a charge with no sentencing recommendation from the prosecutor.

I've also seen lawyers use that term when saying that a person will be sentenced to a specific amount of time. In other words, say for example a person is sentenced to 10 years for a particular crime. After certain things happen, they are eligible for parole after only serving a certain percentage of the 10 years. However, some lawyers use that phrase to mean that a "straight sentence" of 10 years, means that they must serve the whole 10 years, as ordered by the sentencing judge.

The bottom line, is be careful using that term and make sure you or who ever your asking about, gets information clarified.
