alleged theft

my son got cought with a key chain in his pocket while leaving a novelty store. The key chain cost 4.99 and today i got a letter in the mail from a law firm wanting 154.99 . is there any way i can fight this?

You didn't mention how old your son is, nor if he was arrested and most importantly, if he was convicted. You didn't say either if the store got the key chain back. Your son has the right to fight it, but I don't have enough information to advise you on that.
