Was this NJ or SC? If it was in SC, I can't help you but I can't refer you to a good attorney down there.

If your son is in SC, then trespassing after notice is a misdemeanor charge, and will be tried in a magistrate or municipal court. The penalty is a fine of up to $500 plus court costs or up to 30 days in jail. Pleading guilty or being found guilty will give him a criminal record, which could impact his college and/or career field. Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions.

Without more information, it is difficult to say. If convicted, it could go on his record. If you want to get your son representation, feel free to call our offices at 267.639.3105, or at [email protected].

A lot of these cases get dismissed due to the land owner no longer being angry when it finally comes to court. Although that is a possibility, you cannot count on it. There are alternatives to prosecution, such as Pretrial Intervention, which would keep this off his record. Robert Johnston [email protected]
