Can it be used against me?

I was arrested on April 1 for ''altering, counterfeiting, or forging a license plate'' which is a felony in the State of South Carolina. My attorney told me that in the discovery provided to him by the Solicitor's office that the arresting officer claimed that I made the statement that I ''put the fake sticker on my license plate'' which I know I didn't make during or after my rights had been read to me. During my arrest, I was on the phone with my attorney and at his advice did not make ANY statement to the arresting officer. How can I contest this information, and if I did inadvertently make the statement BEFORE my actual arrest (and my Miranda rights), can it be used against me in a trial?
