assault
i have recently been arrested with assault by my 16 year old daughter, can DSS really get involved, and if so what exactly can they do?

Yes they can get involved and be very involved. They can participate in a limited capacity in the criminal prosecution and can be heavily involved in the Family Court seeking custody, protective orders, investigations, support, etc.
