Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina
I got charged with providing false information to a police officer because I first told the officer that my friend was the one who did the "crime" I went mudding and got my car stuck
and couldn't get it out till the next day. Well I started to tell the officer that my friend did it because I panicked and then stopped and told him the truth about what happened. I have a jury trial on April 2 all this happened in July 2009. What should I do?
1 Answer from Attorneys
First of all, I apologize for taking so long to respond. This site that I belong to has a delay in getting the questions to the attorneys and I just now, Sunday the 28th, got your question.
Your question is an intelligent one and I'm glad your asking it. Unfortunately, its nearly impossible to answer it here in this forum due to there being so much that a person needs to know in order to adequately handle a criminal case in a court of law. Especially when its a jury trial. I would literally have to type out an answer that would take hours in order to fill you in on the Code of Laws, Rules of Procedure, Rules of Evidence, and so on and so on. The bottom line is if you have a trial scheduled, then you need an attorney.
If you had just a few specific questions, it would be a lot easier and more feasible to give you some guideance. Therefore, you are welcome to call and I can give you some advise. No charge for the consultation.
