Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina
Criminal & Drug Law
My brother recently had open heart surgery and had to return because of complications. Yesterday a deputy came to his house with a warrent for his arrest. A year ago my brother worked as a delivery person for a local pharmacy and was fired for stealing a bottle of pills. Due to his illness, the deputy said he would be back for him on Friday. This is the first time my brother has done this. What will happen to him now?

Re: Criminal & Drug Law
First of all, I would like to know what county this is in. That would be helpful information. You can respond to [email protected].
The normal arrest process goes like this. They pick him up and "serve" him with the warrant. That basically means that they hand it to him and explain it. Then they take him to the jail or a court (again it would be nice to know what county it is). Once at the court or the jail they will have a bond hearing. Once the bond is set then you or another family member or friend can bail him out of jail. At that point he will need a criminal attorney to defend him on his charge(s). It would also be wise to speak with his doctor to see if it is medically safe for him to be arrested and taken out of the hospital. Hope that helps.
