iI was told that if your'e with someone that has something on them even if they claim it's theirs you'll be charged also.Is that true?

No, but that is not true. But under circumstances its possible. There are two kinds of possession. One, is actual possession and the other is called constructive possession. The situation your describing might be constuctive possession, but I would need more information. Your welcome to call or write.
