Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

Expungement

I have an expungement dating back seven years. I just recently was fired from my job with the Georgetown School District because they were told by the Department of Social Services that I was on the Sexual Predator registry. Apon proving to the District they were wrong. I was told by my boss that if I had any questions to take it up with DSS. I went to DSS and spoke with a supervisor who told me they did not tell the school board that I was on any registry, and that I needed to find out from them (the School Board) what was going on. I then went the Solicitor's office to obtain a copy of the expungement. I then took a copy to my boss who then told me again to take it up with DSS, so I did. Apon talking to the same supervisor, and giving him a copy of the expungement I was told that he was not at liberty to destroy any records without a court order. I then went back to the solicitor and spoke with the court coordinator and supervisor who then told me to go to the clerk of court (who also destroyed the records I was told by the gentleman who certified the copy) to get a certified copy and give that to the supervisor and ask for a letter of confirmation. I have not received any such letter. What should I do? Pls E back.

Re: Expungement

Contact the County Clerk of Court again. If no satisfaction, then you can contact Court Administration in Columbia who oversees the Clerks.
