Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

Hidding information from the USDA

Is it illegal to hide and/or alter information to the USDA regaurding the number of crippled livestock slaughtered? I work in a livestock slaughter/processing plant. My supervisor that is actively hiding the number of crippled livestock and is ordering me to do the same. I need to c.m.o.a. My suppervisor has be employed for 27 years and I have only been employed for 2 years. The department head also knows this fact of the altered information. On average we get about 10-30 crippled per day, but he informs the USDA only about 4-9 per day. I need my job and do not wish the plant to be shut down because of of the action of only 1 or 2 people. I need guidance on how to approch the owner with this information, without being fired. I do not know if the owner is aware of this issue.

Re: Hidding information from the USDA

I am not familiar with the specific reporting requirements of you company. However, if your employer is not accurately complying, then it would appear to be some legal responsibility. Good luck.
