Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina
Jobs
I have a best friend who has a felony for ''assault or battery'' charges. He tries so hard to get a job, but right when he is asked to do a background check, its auto matic diqualification for him! It's like he has no life, no money, and no way to get money! I am hurt by this, and this makes me mad! What can my best bud do? Or is he just doomed for something he did three years ago? This is stupid!!

Re: Jobs
You say he has, "charges," but you didn't say if they are pending charges or if he was convicted. That makes a big difference. If the charges are pending, he can ask his lawyer to try and immediately resolve the case. If he has already been convicted, then he's stuck with the record since felony assault and battery cannot be expunged in South Carolina.
