Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina
Man dies and owes us money
Police notified me this morning the man I was trying to file a fraud charge for taking about $11,ooo died this week-end. They told me I needed to get a lawyer. It doesn't appear he had any assets or property. What can I do to find out and can I put a lien on property or possesions or file something against his estate?

You still need to speak with a lawyer. Not only to find out everything that can be done, but to find out how to do it properly. Depending on the specific facts of the situation (which you didn't explain) there may be a number of different things that can be done. As far as his assets are concerned, an assest serched can be done. Good luck.
