Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

Misdemeanor conviction and insurance licencing

I used to be an OTR Truck Driver. I was living in Mississippi at the time this incident occurred. I was driving in South Carolina on I 85 northbound when I was detained by a state trooper. He was extremely abusive and threatening towards me. I called the Highway patrol to file a complaint. When the officer in question found out about it, he had a coworker at HQ state that I used threatening language towards him over the telephone. As a result, I was convicted of misdemeanor unlawful use of telephone. Will this information be communicated to my home state? More importantly, will it show up on a criminal background check. I have applied for insuranc licencing in Alabama and really need this job as I am unemployed. I have conducted several criminal background checks on myself through various internet sites and they all come back with the following result: ''no criminal records found.''

Any information will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

I cannot state with certainty if it will show up or not. NCIC (National Crime Information Center) is the service that is most widely used. However, it is possible that you could have that conviction expundged from your record. Robert Johnston 843-828-1137
