Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina
Obtaining property by false pretense
I was arrested for obtaining property by false pretense.A check was cashed at a check cashing place where i was the payee but I did not cash the check personally or give anyone permission to cash it either. The check was returned to the check cashing store owner as being refused by the bank and stamped as counterfeit.I can also clearly prove that the signature on the back of the check is not mine. The individual that cashed the check is my husband's nephew and I did not authorize him to cash this check at this business or anywhere else.
