Anyone who goes to court charged with a crime should have a lawyer. The sentence depends information I don't have, such as the defendant's record, the evidence in the case, witnesses, if its a trial or pleads, or if there's restitution, whether the victim shows in court, etc. Each case is different. Most importantly, he/she needs an attorney.
