What is a plea hearing? How does it work? And why do they have them if they are already trying to offer open pleas to an inmate?

A plea hearing, is a hearing in which a defendant pleads guilty to a crime and is sentenced by a judge. The offer always comes first. The solicitor makes an offer and if the defendant accepts the offer, then they have a plea hearing.
