Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina
I plead guilty to " 0176-Drugs / Poss. of narc. in Schedule I(b),(c),LSD & Schedule II (Cocaine)- 1st off " in Richland County, can I ever get this off my record. It was ruined my career path.
1 Answer from Attorneys
I do not know what "0176-Drugs" are. That is not an official name of a crime.
Basically, the only convictions that can be removed from someone's record, which is called an Expungement, are those convictions from Magistrate and City courts, and are misdemeanors. Any felony conviction like what you have, cannot be expunged.
In addition to an Expungement, a person can also file a Petition with the Governor's office for a Pardon. The only problem is, a Pardon does not change a person's criminal record and it remains.
I'm sorry. I wish I had better news for you.
