Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

Public Disorderly Conduct

My 17 Year old son was arrested for Public Disorderly Conduct at school today. He was booked and 1000.00 bond set. Fine close to 500.00 court date in a few weeks. I am trying to find out if he actualy broke the law and find a good attorney . He took a fart bag to school. He was showing them off to others and a classmate took one and let it off in class. They know my son did not set it off but arrested him on the above charge and let the other child go.

Re: Public Disorderly Conduct

Disorderly Conduct is a vague statute. Simply talking loud, swearing, acting in a disruptive manner, etc., can constitute the offense. Based on what you have described I do not see how he could have committed that particular crime. He should have received papers when he was arrested. Although my practice is in Horry County, I would be happy to review the paperwork for you at no charge. You can call and make arrangements to fax it if you would like.
