Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

Need Help!

I was pulled over for my tag light being out. When i was searched i was in posession of a small amount of marajuana. I was not arrested but written a ticket for simple posession. The officer told me my license would be suspended for 6 months and i would have to pay a fine of more than 500.00 dollars. This is my first offense, what are my options besides setting people up? Is there any other way not to get my license suspended?

There's a couple alternative programs which can save your license and keep it off your record. What county was it in?
