Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

What should i do?

This question is for my uncle who is previously jailed and would like to know what he needs to do about this situation. On october 10, 2003 he was arrested by state, while been arrested also for firearm. After he arrived @ jail ATF was called and his state bond was denied. On October 16, 2003 US Marshall Service placed a detainor. On November 18, 2003 he appeared before the federal judge after detention hearing, order denied. On febuary 3, 2005 he was sentenced to 71 months by Feds for firearm. He has been detained for 16 and a half montns, He needs some case laws to help him get his federal time because he was arrested by state and hasen't appeared to state court yet.
