Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina
Replying to a letter from the perpetrator?
My home was burgularized twice by the same person(s). One was caught and would not tell who the others were. I am out over $9,000 of possesions not covered by insurance. The thief(a juvenile) pled guilty and so far has had to under go a 30 day evaluation. His mother sent me a letter 4 months after the fact apologizing for her son. She also asked for a restitution total. She claims they will pay me back. I currently do not have an attorney nor do I know how much the court will require them to pay back. Should I reply to this letter and if so, what is the best way? Should I reply personally or should I go through an attorney?
