I cannot say with absolute certainty, but everytime I have seen this in the past what they are doing is they want you to work for them and help them collect evidence to arrest other people. Usually they do this with people that have been charged with the more serious drug cases, such as Distribution and Trafficing. Its rare to do it with someone that simply charged with Simple Possession. Helping the police is something that you really need to think serious about as it can have some very serious consequences. Also, depending on your record, you may qualify for a program that is an alternative to prosecution where you can get this behind you and not be convicted. The other thing is if the pot was found on your friend, then they may have some problems prosecuting you.

The best thing you can do is consult with an attorney. You are welcome to call me. I will fill you in on what you need to know.
