Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

Simple Possesion of marijuana

My 17 year old son (NC License) was stopped for speeding (79/70). The officer searched the vehicle and found marijuana under the passenger side seat were his friend was sitting. They both had no idea. There were other people in the car earlier (Spring Break). They were not arrested but written up tickets for Simple possesion and released. What do I need to do so this is not on his record??

Re: Simple Possesion of marijuana

There are programs available that are an alternative to prosecution. The most popular is called Pre-Trial Intervention, PTI. If a person sucessfully completes PTI they destroy the arrect record. Its a great program. As with any criminal matter I have to recommend your son see or hire an attorney. What county is this in?
