Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina
Statue of limitations for not apperaring
My finance just told me he had assault on a police officer, revoked liscense, driving with no liscense and other petty offenses. THey are from 2 to 3 years ago. Is there a statue of limitations on things of that matter. He never went to court for them. How would we go about finding out his exact charges and dealing with them now?

I apologize for taking so long to answer. I was out of town on an eight day trial. You can call the court where the charges are/were pending and they can tell you the status. Chances are that his court date came and went. When that happens a person is usually found guilty in their absence. You can also have a lawyer check into it for you. I would advise you to not ignore this. Its possible that there could be a warrant for his arrest for not appearing in court and for not paying the fines. Good luck.
