There isn't one. But there are other considerations when a case starts to get old. Depending on the facts, they could help the defendant and other times, hurt the defendant. It just all depends. I have a criminal defense firm in Myrtle Beach, and accept cases state-wide. I don't know why your asking, but I'll tell you that one thing that comes back to haunt a lot of people, is that they mistakenly believe that if they stay away long enough that the case will disappear. This can hurt them because often some of the witnesses that may have been able to help them are no longer available. And, in some instances, the prosecutor is allowed to go ahead and have a trial in the person's absense. Your welcome to email or call if you have other questions.
