Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

how can a tape recording be enter in to evidence for a simple assault case?

I was involved in an incident where a woman struck me in the face twice and in reaction I pushed her and she fell. However the police took a report from her because I didnt wait for an officer because of an injury to my eye. I do have a tape recording of a conversation between myself and a close relative of this woman. In the recording she states that the incident was started by the other person and not me, but I taped it without her knowledge. How can this be entered into evidence without a lawyer and what type of penalties would i face if convicted of simple assault.

Simple assault carries up to 30 days and a fine. As far as admitting the recording into evidence, it would take all day to type out the necessary information for a person to attempt such a thing without a lawyer. Its just not an easy question to answer. If this case is going to trial you really need an attorney. I would be happy to answer any other questions you may have over the phone. Good luck.
