Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

theft at restaurant

my daughter-in-law is a supervisor at a local restaurant. She normally makes a daily deposit. One day last week she had to carhop and by the end of the day was exhausted (also 6 months pregnant). She put the cash from sales into the safe at the establishment. The next day it was found stolen. Her boss tells her she has to pay the $1200 that was stolen back to the business. Is this legitimate?

Re: theft at restaurant

I am not sure what you mean by, Is it legitimate?"

Are you asking, is it legal for her boss to ask her for the money back? It appears that your aksing if she has to pay the money back if someone stole it. If that is your quesion the answer would be no. I assume that no one is accusing her. Isn't there insurance? I wish I could help you more but I really don't have much information to work with here. Your welcome to call if you have more quesions.
