can your therpist

If you go to a family therpist and tell about something that falls under the category of child abuse or battery, can/will the therpist report that person to the police?

My understanding is that licensed medical professionals are only allowed to report crimes that are about to be committed and not things that happened in the past. It would be best to call the Medical Board in Columbia to verify this. Good luck.
