violent or nonviolent
If a person was charged with Felony DUI and received an 8 year sentence plus a 15 year sentence supspended to 5 years probation, would this crime be considered violent or nonviolent and would the person be eligible for parole at any time?

Your question is confusing. I can't figure out if they got 8 and 15 suspended to probation or got 8 years in prison plus a 15 year sentence suspended on probation. In any event, looking at whether a crime is violent or nonviolent is not the best way to determine parol eligibility. You need to look at what class felony it is. They are classified as A,B,C,D,E & F. Felony DUI has an 85% parol eligibility.
