Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

wrongfully charged and seeking help

someone stole checks and cashed them. turned himself in to the law and was arrested. sentenced to four years in maximin security, because an escape charge appeared. he never tried to escape. we've tried all over to find a solution to get this charge dropped. clerk of court has no record but the prison shows the charge. no one will tell me where to go next. i need to know the next step.
