The answer doesn't change. It is STILL and Assessment to determine if you pose any sort of Risk. Just read the words. No offense, but it simply speaks for itself.

You are right, it would have helped if you had said you were already on probation. But that's neither here nor there at this point. So by now you should have an idea of what it is.

I have had one or two thousand people go on probation. Of all of them, not a single one ever read any of the paperwork that they were given by the probation department. If you have any, you might want to try seeing if it explains Risk Assessment.

The thing that you should be concerned about, is not so much what it is, but rather Why. In other words, if you have been on probation for 3 years, then why would they be suddenly wanting to do a risk assessment?

Let me point out something that you may not have considered. Since you are the one on probation, and you are the one that will under go the Risk Assessment, and you are the one that is not a probation professional, then why on earth don't you just simply call the probation department and simply, honestl say, Hi. My name is Joe Blow. I have been informed that I must undergo Risk Assessment. I was wondering if someone could explain that to me?

It is a perfectly reasonable question. You have no reason in the world to fear calling and asking the question. If anything, they would appreciate and respect that you are taking an interest in your probation and trying to be responsible.

At this point, a lawyer can only guess why they would want you to do one. You have not provided much information. For all I know, they are considering letting you off probation, and therefore want to do a Risk Assessment before cutting you lose. Or, for all I know, they feel that you have screwed up probation, and therefore they should do a Risk Assessment to decide what to do with you.

Lets face it. The two words, Risk, and Assessment, are not very hard words to understand. The question is why are they doing it at this point in time. I have a funny feeling that you might know the answer to that. But no lawyer out there in Internet-Land is going to know. We don't have crystal balls.

So either you already have an idea of why they are doing it, or maybe you should just pick up the phone and call and ask. Its a perfectly reasonable question to ask.

Make sense?
