Legal Question in DUI Law in South Carolina

Duac

This past weekend I was pulled over for speeding; however, I had been drinking earlier and was charged with DUAC since I took the breathalizer test. I was told that I would not face driving suspension since I agreed to the test. I did blow a .11 but was told that since I did not blow a .15 I would not be charged with DUI as well. I am 30 years old and this is a first offence and I have a clean record. My court date is Fab 3. Just worried and don--name removed--know what all this really means or what I may be facing. Do I get a lawyer or seek other advise. My fine was $1022.00. Is this reasonable for first offense? I understand I should not have been driving but just concerned...any advise? Thank you.

Re: Duac

You should have a lawyer. Someone that blows a .11 and doesn't have an accident or who's driving was not really bad is a strong candidate for having the ticket reduced, which lawyers routinely do. Your license was not suspended at the time of arrest, but if you are convicted of DUAC it will be suspended. The $1,022.00 you paid was only the bond amount, not the fine. You only pay a fine if you are convicted. It sounds like you need some advise. My lawfirm is in Horry County and you are welcome to call. I do these cases state-wide if you need some help.
