Legal Question in DUI Law in South Carolina

DUI without representation

I will be having to represent myself.

The county I reside in doesn't provide council for magistrate cases. I need to a brief overview of courtroom proceedures- what evidence can be use against me, when to object and on what grounds.

Re: DUI without representation

I'm afraid that is not such an easy request. Lawyers go through three years of law school and only then, they are beginners at trial. Criminal trials involve the South Carolina Code, South Carolina Case Law, SC Rules of Criminal Procedure, SC Rules of Evidence. You will be dealing with not only objections, but responses to objections, elements of the offense, defenses and the list goes on. The best thing you can do is hire an attorney. Or if you absolutely cannot afford one, then at least try to meet with one and let them review the case and advise you. A lot of lawyers will even consult with you on the phone. Good luck.
